June 2010 Announcement

Sunday, June 6, from 12 pm – 6 pm

Greening Oakland Homes – Green Zone Host
Temescal Street Fair, Telegraph and 48th Street

We are proudly hosting the official Green Zone at the 7th Annual Temescal Street Fair, with a street section to call our very own.  After you arrive on Telegraph Avenue, please look for the Greening Oakland Homes and Green Zone signs.

There’s supposed to be a huge crowd, but we look forward to spending time with everyone who stops by.  We’ll have people on hand to discuss your home’s conservation opportunities.

Who’s at the Green Zone? You will find more than 20 exhibiting vendors and experts who can help you learn how to conserve energy and water at home.  Plus well-informed Oaklanders are prepared to discuss the latest financial incentives – to save you money now and in the long term.

Who’s Greening Oakland Homes? Conservation-minded Oaklanders, who have learned their neighbors are hungry for energy conservation advice.  They will be volunteering at the Green Zone, along with Oakland Tech students who will help with logistics.

Please stop anyone with a green shirt or Oakland Tech shirt, when you visit our Green Zone!  We look forward to discussing home audits, simple tips and more advanced improvements – on a bright and sunny Sunday.

It’s conveniently taking place at Oakland’s Temescal Library which has a lending tool library.  So after the seminar, perhaps you will be inspired to check out a few tools and begin tinkering at home as well.

This educational fair will feature exhibitors with solutions to help you save energy, water, and natural resources.

It will include presentations on the benefits provided by various types of retrofits and also offer information on financial aid and programs that will save you money.

Why this fair is unique  – Greening Oakland Homes is focused on what works best in your very own neighborhoods.  You’ll have opportunities to learn how to assess your “carbon footprint” at home and and how to identify projects that impact your energy consumption – all from local experts.
