Most people want to be eco-friendly but for the most part at least currently sometimes going green technlogoy is not financially a good idea currently.I have looked at eco-friendlyand green technology alternatives like igo green charger and have adapted where it makes financial sense. So far I have also installed solar panels on my home but while looking for a electric car I find the cost doesnt justify it for me. While I am passionate about making green choices and opting for green technology whenever possible it is up to people like you and I to spread awareness and let the companies know there is a demand. Your website looks popular and I think you can help influence society with your insight and green technology tips. By the way I found your site by searching " Your roof, your generator « Greening Oakland Homes " and you were the first result. So I think your website is a perfect platform to discuss ideas that are thought provoking to help influence your readers to go green. - Good luck with your site, you deserve all the success! Please continue to talk about more eco-tips/green tech, every idea helps us get closer day by day!

Me and Jim were considering buying several solar panels for our home last year. The only challenge was the cost. The cheapest system we found was close to 10 thousand bucks. It would have taken us years to make back that amount. Anyway, we stumbled across these recommendations for making your own solar panel products. We ended up going that way. It ended up saving us a great deal of dollars, and the totally free, efficient power is great! :) We operate several of our appliances off this grid.

Rain barrels and simple rain water collection systems are one of the easiest, most affordable things you can do to save money on utilities and help your local environment. I started collecting rainwater just a few years ago, and now have 5 barrels going. I can't remember the last time I turned on the hose to water the lawn or my vegetable garden.

This is a great discussion of window treatments but your data for energy efficient windows is very low. Serious Materials makes high-performance replacement windows that are dual pane with suspended film technology that range from R3 to R7. Take a look here: http://www.seriouswindows.com

Hi. Am about to tear my hair out looking for a source from which to purchase reinforced felt weather stripping. I am working on an older home in Berkeley. Any suggestions? Any help would be appreciated. Ideally, the felt would be reinforced with some type of copper/brass metal, to be affixed with brass brads, to the exterior door jambs. Thx again.
